Kittens and cars: Jobs at Uber

Hey guys,

I recently saw a bunch of job postings for Operations and Logistics Manager in various cities for Uber. From my research (mostly Glassdoor reviews) people love their job. It's about 85% operational, basically "directing traffic" and managing drivers and figuring out logistical problems, but it's about 15% strategy, coming up with ideas, promotions, new directions for the business, etc. Apparently it's a culture where those ideas are taken seriously and even implemented. (I mean, in some cities just yesterday they delivered kittens to people's homes and allowed people to adopt them or simply cuddle with them for 15 minutes and all the proceeds went to animal shelter charities.)

A buddy of mine asked my advice on what type of exit opportunities would be available after a gig like that. I have absolutely no idea, and I would imagine they aren't great but I told him MBA programs love stuff like that, working with startups and such (I realize Uber doesn't exactly qualify as a "startup" at this point).

Anybody else have any input on this job, exit ops, or anything else?

Buddy of mine interviewed and got rejected but then got an offer in Marketing Strat at a boutique for like 100k. No idea what that means but take it for what its worth.

Interesting. He must have had a pretty good background. I did hear the interview is pretty rigorous at Uber. An analytic excel exam, business cases. I think there is definitely a huge "fit" factor too.

Top 10 UG and 2 years as an analyst in a strategy role at a T5 bank. Pretty good background imo.

Pretty good background confirmed. If he knew a marketing strategy job like that was in the cards, he may not have been able to sell his 'undying passion' for Uber. It sounds like this kind of enthusiasm is requisite.

Anyone else? Any input on Uber jobs, specifically the operations and logistics?
