Lateral from IB Boutique Possible ?

Hi all,

I am currently  a junior at a  semi target school and have a shit GPA  think (3.1,3.2) and was able to find a internship at solid private equity firm this summer, however thinking ahead for IB recruiting, I don't think a IB internship is possible at a  BB for me this point, and aiming for a investment banking boutique at the moment for Summer 2022.  How hard will it be to get an internship at a solid bank for Investment Banking my senior year? I definitely think I can bump my GPA to a 3.4, or would it be easier to lateral once I'm an analyst for a year  at a boutique?

Thanks,

Juan
