Lateral from Private Bank Analyst into IB
Background: Current rotational analyst in the private bank at a bulge bracket. Will have rotations in traditional relationship management, asset management, and structured product sales and trading.
My goal is to lateral into IB (likely at same bank) at the completion of the 2 year program. Which of the following would be the most beneficial?
1) Try and complete level 2 of the CFA by the completion of the program. I figure this will prove competence in areas of finance that aren’t covered in PB (Balance sheet, LBOs, etc)
2) Try and transfer into S&T and then make the switch to IB further down the line.
Any insight is appreciated here and feel free to let me know if I have my head up my ass.
