LDN Graduate for Structured Finance

Hey everyone, I'm an incoming student at a pre-experience MSc (think Oxford MFE/ LSE Finance / LBS MFA). Super interested in securitization. Did a securitization SA (not in London) at a no-name bank. Asking for general suggestions to break into the industry / how's recruiting in London (should I go for SAs? Does networking matter? How are the interviews for Structuring? Is it as competitive as M&A?) / any insight is appreciated. Thanks!

Am in similar position to you so relaying advice I received during recruiting in LDN

  1. Structured finance is fairly active in London, growing more-so now with the evolving regulatory landscape and rise of esoteric products. You should be able to find a role somewhere if you can leverage your experience.
  2. SAs matter, yes. Apply from the summer onwards for 2026 summer roles.
  3. Interviews for me were around structured finance, risks, potential products a client might use and how they could reduce exposure to their counterparties.
  4. London isn't a networking-based city. Apply with your CV and see what you get.

Hope that answers some of your questions!
