[LDN] Lateral Analyst Job Market - Is It Just Me, Or Is It Shit?

As per the title - without doxxing myself, I was let go back as a 2nd year Analyst in December '22 from a MM bank (WB / HL / Baird / Stifel / Investec) and have been unable to land other interviews for lateral analyst positions. My profile is decent (target uni, good team industry rep), and I have good deal experience (deal values of EUR 100m - EUR 3bn), I have spoken to all head hunters and have good relationships with them.

However, is the lateral analyst market really that shit, in terms of few roles being available at various banks? Is anyone else struggling to find roles?

For people who were let go in recent cuts and have managed to find new roles, how long did it take and how did you secure the new role?

The market is terrible, hiring is net negative with most companies doing layoffs instead of hiring.

You need to look at non-IB things unfortunately... and with 6 months gap already you are getting close to the point where the gap will start becoming more of a question / reason you're getting dinged. I would really start pushing in the next month or two and try to land something, you can lateral back when the market improves. Corp finance jobs will be your best bet. Don't rely on HHs, find jobs online yourself
