Lying on IB resume/ application

I have this friend that lied on his resume, specifically about his GPA to apply to investment banks. I hate that something I worked so hard for can be faked this easily.

Do you think he would get caught? How would they know? Does your GPA really matter if you go to a target school?

Depends on the lie. If you put you have a 3.8 and you really have a 3.6 I think you’ll be fine if I was the person verifying I’d prob be like ok be chilled out once he got an offer. If it’s like 3.9 to 2.5 you’re probably screwed. Idk tho. Not all firms even ask for transcript. Only person that can tell you this is Father Time or someone at HR at the bank if you know someone well in that role somewhere.

You can still backsolve to the previous semester that he submitted his resume during and calculate his GPA excluding the semester(s) between resume submission and transcript date to see if they're lying. Most, if not all HR people would do this.
