M&A internship chances
Hey guys, I’d love to find out your take on my chances to break in and some ideas on how to improve them.
I’m moving to NYC (family matters) and want to work in M&A (I got such graduate role offer in the country I currently live in). Given my background, I feel it might be easier to start as an intern rather than an analyst. I have good experience but not pure finance-side M&A. Some relevant background: worked in a top law firm (M&A deals) and interned at an MBB consultancy. I have experience with financial modeling (competitions, courses, finance student club, etc.). I’m finishing a master’s in finance and econ at a semi-target EU uni and a finance&corporate law master’s at target (for law) London uni. GPA from everything is ~3.8/4. However, neither is a finance target school.
I will probably have a referral. What steps would you take (e.g., exams such as the GMAT, courses such as Wall Street Prep), or is the realistic chance low even with that?
