Major in CS, how can I get a IB or consulting job?

I'll start my Computer Science PhD this year, in NWU. However I am kind of tired of coding, although I think I am good at it. So now I am thinking about finding a financial related job, after my graduation.

Any plan? What should I do? From now on I have about 5 years to prepare...

Thank you guys!!!

Yes I am entering a 5years PhD program and thinking about exit PhD into IBanking or something else. This is because after several years hard working I finally realize I need a new career plan. I am not tired of coding, I am good at it. But only coding cannot bring me a bright future, I need something else to earn a more successful career. This is my point.

For any job, I though the most important factors are knowledge, skill and experience. Although there are still 5 years, I have to prepare a lot, intern and practice and etc.

DON'T SAY THAT!!!!

Programming has a huge role to play in trading, logistics, and everything else in industry.

Yes, you will need to go into INDUSTRY to earn a more successful career than academia. As it stands today, you can have a very comfortable life as a smart programmer. But good programmers are still pretty cheap relative to the skill required and value created. And if you get hired as a quant at DE Shaw or get hired into a program trading shop like Jump, you're golden.

Yes I know programming is important. As I think my coding skills are good enough, of course I will take it as an advantage.

However for CS students, most programming has nothing to do with neither business nor industry. This is what I hate. I did not realize that before I started an internship in an online video advertising startup 6 months ago.

In the past I focused too much on programming skills rather than using the skills to certain fields. Now I am trying to get into other fields where my skills can be more useful and profitable. So I think I-Banking and consulting may be appropriate.

I am still looking. Your comments are really helpful and thanks so much.
