Making the final ask

currently a sophomore networking for SA 21. I have been networking for a couple months now, informational interviews and on campus events. I’m going to New York In a couple weeks and have some coffee chats lined up and my question is how to go from just asking questions and being referred to another banker to saying hey the applications are open and I just applied, could you do something about that? am I missing a step here

my personal take is to casually mention that you’ve applied. In my experience, if the associate likes chatting with you, they’ll just let HR know to look out for your name. Some friends of mine I know well sometimes provide direct recommendations, but those are more for people that have worked together in the past for projects or assignments. Just my take, idk how it works from others’ perspectives.direct
