Math GPA on CV
Hello,
I am an Electrical Engineering student looking to get a job in Finance or do a master in finance. My current CGPA is 3.63/4.
Do you think I should add my Math GPA? It consists of 11 courses where I got straight As (4.0/4.0).
Thanks
This is either an attempt to brag or a demonstration of your lack of common sense.
Yes. Put it on your resume.
"Hey guys, quick question: I won a Fields Medal a couple years ago for my work on the Boltzmann equation. Is this the sort of thing I should put on my resume?
Thanks."
ahah Some people told me not to put it that's why I asked
Thanks guys
It really dumfounds me why Engineering/Physics/Chem students want Finance Jobs...
Let's see: he could take a boring, typical engineering job and make ~$100k for the next fifteen years of his life. Or he could give the finance racket a go and make three times (yearly) by his fourth year. Also, engineering is an extremely low status job when compared to just about anything in the financial world.
Why do you think so many STEM PhDs end up working in the finance world? Hint: it's not because they love the markets.
being an engineer aint that great. what ends up happening is you do all the grunt work, and you notice that the suits get all the glory.
happened to me. not fun.
agreed
11 courses? Shouldn't that give you at LEAST a minor? It'd be easier to then put Minor GPA: 4.0 but I still think you should still probably note it somewhere
It is basically the classes we had to take for the major + the one I took as technicals:
Vectors, Matrices, Intermediate Calculus, Advanced Calculus, ODEs, PDEs, Complex Variables, Foundation of Systems, Prob, Numerical Methods, Linear Systems and Optimization
uhhh...lol.
you have a 3.6+ in EE, that alone is better than a 4.0 in 99.9% of majors. i would ding any engineer that tried to pull this crap.
i side with your friends that told you not to.
I know it doesnt really have anything to do with the initial post but I am cosidering majoring in Computer Engineering or Accounting... any advice? I like business but I also want a degree that I can fall back on; it seems that Engineering is one of the only majors to do that with.
Thank You.
