MBA from top 20, Commercial banker looking for change

Hi - I need advice on potential finance roles for a MBA (from top 20) having 4 years of commercial banking experience with progression from credit analysis, portfolio management to middle-market banker (VP) at a top global bank. I have interviewed with several banks in risk and portfolio management mostly within corporate banking but had no luck so far. I am getting the message that I may be too experienced to transition into risk roles in bank which are more project management oriented (Basel, stress testing etc.). For corporate banking, it seems that middle-market is a stigma although I have worked on several participations and lead transactions of $200MM+ financings.

I would like to understand which finance roles may be easier to get into from a middle-market banking role . Is it PE, FP&A or anything else. And how should I tweak my resume and highlight specifics accordingly. I do not want to get into consulting (finance and banking practice) as I am not ready travel on a weekly basis.

I am ready to relocate to anywhere in the US.

Any advice is appreciated ! Thanks.
