MBA recruiting: Easier to get a consulting or investment banking position?
I'm curious if it's more difficult to land a consulting or investment banking position from a top 20 business school? I've been looking up statistics, and can't really find any, besides the fact that only 20,000 investment banking positions open annualy.
Do more people go for consulting or investment banking jobs during recruiting?
Thanks.
20,000 open up annually? Sounds like way too many.
I think it really depends on which top 20 business school.
Right now it is harder to get consulting at my M7. Its mostly a function of numbers though - 100 people recruiting for IB with 200 recruiting for consulting - with about the same total number of jobs available for each.
20,000 IB jobs opening up annually seems insanely high and way too large..
consulting jobs are easier if you are smarter even if you are little weird socially. Banking jobs are easier if you are good socially, even if not the smartest. Both are not shoe ins.
Do investment banks take into account where you went to undergrad?
I'm trying to decide if I should do a master of finance from a reputable school to boost my application
