MBB Background Check Policy?

Hi Everyone,

I am a senior in undergrad and I accepted an offer for a FT Business Analyst position at a MBB consulting firm and I have a question about the background check. My criminal history is spotless, not even a single parking ticket or anything but I have a question about the employment check.

Since I was a big student leader on campus, I was invited to two summer leadership programs (one was 4 weeks long and the other was 2 weeks long) that occurred during the summer before senior year. They were awkwardly placed in the summer, 4 week program was the first four weeks of the summer and 2 week program was the last two weeks of the summer and so I was not able to accept a SA position at GS. I felt as if telling GS that you accept their SA offer but would be gone the first 4 weeks and the last 2 weeks wasn't going to fly.

In order to fill the void in the time, I worked for my dad who is the CEO of a small regional consulting firm. Since dad owns the place, I obviously did not have to go through the interview process and went in on the days I felt like it. Since my dad is a scrooge, he didn't want to put me on payroll just for a month, so it was an unpaid internship.

While his company has a structured paid internship program, I know for a fact I wasn't part of the program and so my question how detailed is a MBB firm going to get into this employment of a month? Are they going to get suspicious that I was only there for a month and was unpaid when the company website list a 10 week paid internship program?

I know my "employment" is something that my dad's company won't even remember unless my dad tells HR, but how much "reminding" is my dad going to have to do on my behalf and could I potentially just leave it off my background check forms since it was only a month long stint?

Thanks!
