Missed the boat on internships - what next?
Hey WSO,
Got a late start applying to analyst positions for the upcoming summer cycle and by the lack of responses, it would appear I've missed out. Now what? I've spoken with a recruiter today who advised I try and leverage what I can out of the school's career center regarding active alumni and begin to cast my net beyond IB and Asset Management. I'm not ready to give up, but don't want to continue investing as much time as I am to end up at a place that doesn't provide good experience. Read as, I'm taking 18 hours this semester and it's really beginning to stress me out. The main takeaway I was hoping to get out of a summer internship was a clearer focus on an area that interests me as well as exposure to the financial services industry in general. I'm unsure of where I should direct my resources if I hope to get something similar to analyst position for this summer.
A little about me: I come from a non target school, high GPA, involved in many different programs and orgs, volunteer, captain of a varsity team and based in New York when not at school. I'm interested in markets, statistics, research, data analysis and am a junior double majoring in accounting and finance.
Any advice would be appreciated - thanks in advance.
