Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs hire process with Misdermeaner Charge

I have misdermeaner B conviction "Attemp to possess forged Instrument 2nd degree", I am going through interview process with Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley for Technology Analyst as a software developper, will I be denied because of my conviction ? It happened in NY.

It will come up in a background check. Where you will absolutely be denied is if you leave it off the application they have you fill out that asks your permission to have a background check conducted. The minute they see you are not truthful it means you are gone. Period.

If you check that box YES you have been convicted of a crime you will most likely be given an opportunity to explain it away in a box below the check. Are there mitigating details that make your situation unique or did you really get caught doing some unethical shit? If it's the latter it may go against you unless it was a long time ago or there are some details which tip in your favor. Either way the bottom line is this: Secure the offer then explain it away in writing and in person to your HR contact. That's the best advice I have
