Morgan Stanley IBD vs UBS IBD

Hi guys, I just received an offer from UBS HK for their IBD SA. However I think I did better in the MS HK final round than UBS assessment centre, so there is much possiblity that I could receive the offer from MS next Monday as well.

As far as I know, UBS tends to give more return offer to SA, of course I hope I could get one. Also UBS has better culture. For example UBS people are more friendly than MS. Also they did better than MS in 2009. However MS has better reputation, it is easier for me to jump ship from MS to others banks in the future. Also MS is stronger globally than UBS.

It is quite hard for me to decide which offer I should take, what do you guys think?

follow your heart

maybe u should get all the offers before u start dreaming

========================================= We are excited to formally extend to you an offer to join Bank of Ameria

no i worked there for almost a year before leaving due tot he shitty group, and kbblue u should watch out, I know who you are in stamford and your listed under operations. PM me for details why.

Sure, I had my AC at London last Wednesday, I got the offer 2 days later, because I told them that my Citi offer is going to expired. So I think it makes them to consider my application first.

Flip a coin. Both of these banks are good.

-Never go to a bank on a premise that they've converted more in the past. -Don't go on prestige. Prestige went out of the window in summer 2007. -Don't go for current rankings either. MS was 5th globally, and 7th in Asia last year. Now, they are #1 (2). Will they be 1 (2) in the future? Who knows. Any of the top 10 banks will give you the same exposure/experience, responsibilities and pay. -Unless you know the team you'll be joining and met most of the people (analysts) there, then going for culture is a bad idea because the way people treat you depends on how busy they are and how much you fuck up.

__________ Just my 2c.

If I were you, I would def go for MS

better reputation, stronger globally - great experience. easier to jump ship to others banks later in the future

interned in MS HK last summer - great people nice culture.

when's your UBS exploding? good luck with your MS offer!

One thing to keep in mind is that SA at MS would be generalist while at UBS you'll be assigned a specific group so that can change your summer exp. quite a lot. Somebody at MS told me a couple of SA had to wait for quite a while to get staffed on deals the past summer, but on the up side you get to see more groups.
