Moving from New Zealand
Hi,
I am currently living in NZ and looking to move overseas to gain some more work experience (probably UK) in the next few months.
I have the following qualifications on my CV:
2.5 years IB / corporate finance analyst at boutique NZ IB. have worked on a lot of deals but because of GFC only a few smaller ones have been executed. All the usual experience: valuation, modelling, DD, writing pitch books etc.
Master of Finance with Distinction Otago University (highly regarded in NZ).
CFA pending work experience passed all levels on first attempt
I have the following questions.
I would like to continue working in IB perhaps for a bigger firm or for a private equity firm - with aim to complete bigger transactions. I am interested as to how qualifications (particularly my work experience) will stack up overseas?
Does it matter that most of the transactions I have work on have not been executed given I have gained most of the modelling / valuation experience before they fell over?
There was only about 4-6 top tier IB jobs in NZ in the year I graduated (I am 24 now), how much will starting in a boutique disadvantage me?
Can anyone recommend a city / country to work in?
Any idea what I can be expected to earn?
All you’re feedback is very welcome.
