My standing post final round-- any thoughts?

I did a final round with a BB for a quant role two weeks ago (on a Monday). They sent me a short coding test as part of the interview on Tuesday and also arranged a follow-up call with one of the MD on Thursday (the MD was absent from my final round due to schedules). So I would say my whole interview process was wrapped up about a week ago.

At the end of the call I was told by the MD that feedback from Monday was very positive and everyone was impressed yadi yadi. I know I should not read too much into it coz that never guarantees anything. The MD also told me they should be able to get back to me within a week, which obviously did not come true.

Post-interview contact: One recruiter followed up early last week telling me hopefully have some updates for me soon. Today the Director of the group responded my email saying they are still working through the process.

So my question, is that a ding? I am not betting my whole life on it apparently, but it is a really good role that I don't wanna pretend not to care.

Sounds like you're a second or third choice and they're waiting on their first choice to get back to them.
