i'm having the same exact problem. i've gotten a few calls back and a few rejection emails but you have to be EXTREMELY proactive to get any sort of reply back. you left a voicemail? call back and leave another one. wait a few days, try to find the guys email address (google him/look him up on linkedin) and send him your resume/cover letter. emphasize that you're looking to help out their firm in any way possible. no reply still? call the main number back and ask to talk to someone else. i've been doing this all week and i'm planning on continuing until april, before i start calling and offering to work for free. good luck
hey, idk if you're interested in PWM but i've been successful getting interviews with those through coldcalling/emailing. i'm a freshmen with no relevant work experience. you probably won't learn too much but it's definitely a step in the right direction, and who knows..you might meet the right people through it.

Well, Waddell & Reed got unfairly blamed for the flash crash. So you can talk about that.
But seriously, they're a solid fund company, a decent name brand, and you'll learn a lot.
