Need some insight - relocating to Northeast
I am a senior at a non-target attempting the unlikely goal of breaking into investment banking (or any other front office finance role). I ended up at my school because I thought I wanted to go into medicine and we have a great program, but then hated the science classes. I stupidly turned down Penn because our schools med program is highly respected and undergrad is cheap, so I did not want to go into debt. I graduate in 2 months and have been networking as much as possible to try and gain some connections in the industry. My problem is that I am looking to relocate from Florida to the Northeast to be closer to more jobs, and I have been having trouble making connections up there.
Here are a few of my qualifications:
1) Internships with the Air Force and a F500 company in a business analyst position
2) Analyst for my university's student managed fund (equities)
3) Several on campus leadership roles
4) GPA: 3.42 overall, 3.53 in major (yeah I know it is low)
Have any of you been in a similar situation where you were attempting to relocate, but your entire network is located away from that area? How did you handle the situation? Is it realistic with my qualifications for me to get an offer? Let me know if you need any more info to help me out.
Worst case scenario I have an offer with a F500 in a corporate finance role. Unfortunately I was late in the game realizing what I was really interested in doing.
you're a senior.. take the F500
