Made the absolute world of difference to me specifically. Categorically would have had nothing without it. Rejected from multiple processes and events only for professionals I had networked with to get me back into consideration. Networking in London is definitely much less important than for NY but can still swing the odds enough to get you over the line if you're one of the lucky ones.

Belong to probably one of the most challenging demographics from which to break into London IB in recent years and did not do any Spring Weeks.

It does. Matters a bit less for larger companies with a more structured recruitment process (e.g., if you fail the numerical tests, it is very unlikely that networking can save you) but a lot for boutiques. Back in the day when I was applying for jobs I got a R1 for CVP coming from a non-finance background. Needless to say I bombed it, but I wouldn't have even had my CV looked at if it wasn't for that referral.
