Networking Problem

I have been reaching out to Analysts at investment banks (BB and EBs) and none of these people are getting back (I even followed up with them). I have now exhausted basically all the analyst/associates to reach out to and not sure how to proceed with this and want to know what my next steps should be.

Thanks for the advice guys!

They are all Alumni. I am introducing myself in the email, telling about where im interning for the summer and that i am interested in IB and would like to learn about their experiences and get advice.

What do you mean send another e-mail in a different thread? could you please elaborate?

Can't speak for many firms but I know at my bank if you send an email to our @bankname.com email we (might) get the email if it doesn't get blocked by security but oftentimes we can't reply. Things like content of the email itself and timing are important. A lack of depth in the emails along with poor timing / recipient laziness (last thing on my mind is to reply to an email I read 10 hours ago and didn't care much about) can lead to shitty response rates. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Also, a lot of analysts could be onboarding their summer analysts right now. Still, summer is generally a good time to reach out to full-time analysts, since they're typically not working as hard when they have summer analysts on the desk with them

Advice is... contact more people! Just persevere. Might take a hundred contacts to get 5, but there's enough nice/empathic people out there who will respond.

Other commenters have mentioned that your outreach email looks good. If you're doing this via LinkedIn, perhaps you may want to touch up your profile. If it's via email:

1) I always recommend for people to add a profile picture to their gmail when reaching out -- makes you seem more legit/trustworthy

2) Make sure you have the right email addresses and you don't have a bunch of bounced email addresses in your archives or anything like that

There are also sites like https://goo.gl/oVX5oQ</a">The Lobby where you can pay to talk to any banker 1 on 1 for mock interviews/resume review/networking help, etc.
