Networking Referrals
How do you guys and gals ask for referrals to other bankers at the end of a networking call?
What do you do when a banker gives you someone to reach out to but does not mention putting you in touch? Do you ask for them to put you in touch?
Any other good networking stories about referrals?
usually they just offer it themselves when I mention in my "intro pitch" that I want to learn more about their bank and am strongly considering applying. But then again, the alumni are extremely supportive at my school, which is a small LAC.
I ask about the recruiting timeline/advice during the call. if they don't get the hint, I follow up the next day saying that I enjoyed the call, these aspects of the bank appeal to me, and that I have attached my resume to the email. I say it in a very non-aggressive way, saying something along the lines of "if you find me to be a good fit for x bank and position, I would greatly appreciate it if you could connect me with recruiters." Most pass me along with a good word.
