Networking with non-IBD @ BBs
Freshman here. Is it useful to network with school alum/connections at banks even if they work outside of IBD? Not starting now, just curious

If your goal is to ask them to refer you to someone in IB, I would compare it to asking a girl if they can set you up with their hot friend. If you want IB seems like a waste of all parties time

Not useful. Just talk to the division you want to work in, doesn’t matter if they’re not alumni.
Use them for practice / warming up for the important people tbh
