New to WSO and actively pursuing a career in Investment Banking

Hello All,

My name is Derek McCoy and I am new to WSO. I was referred to the site by a well-connected recruiter. He mentioned that looking for an entry level position is tough and I would be able to find a lot of help and useful information on this site! Please let me know if there is anyone with advice or knowledge on hiring out there!

A quick summary of my background; I graduated from UMass Lowell in May 2013 with a dual concentration in Finance and Management. Additionally, I was a member of the Division 1 Men’s Ice Hockey Team as a member of the team I was named to the Hockey East All-Academic team. Since graduating I have been employed as an Account Executive by HP. Although I have enjoyed my experience with HP and acquired knowledge in both a successful corporate environment and the technology industry, I have also realized my passion for finance and my drive for more day-to-day challenges in a fast-paced environment.

I also recently completed a 4 week course with the Investment Banking Institute where we covered a high-level overview of the industry. I did this to further my knowledge and gain more specified experience in IBanking.

Thank you for any and all help in advance!

Best,
Derek McCoy

If I read that on an applicant's resume, I'd think "stalker"
