No signing bonus for FT 2011 in the UK?

Hi guys,

Friends of mine got offers from GS London and received no signing bonus (base and relo are standard). True in IBD as well as Securities; true of returning interns as well as new hires.

=> Is that something you're seeing at other BBs?

By the way, there might be an other explanation: is the signing bonus in the US the relocation package we get in the UK? 5k to 7k GBP is approx. USD 10k.

People on this older thread mention base and signing, but only an associate lists a relo payout. The one guy from London mentions his base, a relo, but no signing. //www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/base-salary-number…

Cheers,

Some definitely still pay sign-on bonuses, around 5-7k. But, I guess GS might just pay it out as a relocation bonus, it comes out to about the same. I don't know whether there are any tax incentives (doubt it) or maybe it's just a different policy.
