Non target cumulative GPA

I go to a non target that runs on a 4.3 GPA scale. If my gpa is 3.924/ 4.3, is that good for IB USA for a non target, + will they look at just GPA or scores in certain courses cuz one course I have a 2.7 (calculus)

From the network I have talked too, essentially as a non target non diversity hire you need a perfect GPA and even that might not be enough. It’s usually you need three things.

Target/semi target
High/mid GPA
Solid connect at bank that will vouch

Bonus (don’t be a weirdo)

If you look at that as of right now and what I know you have none of these. Say your networking is going well then you have 1 of these. At the end of the day you need to really get your GPA to be perfect, I am actually transferring from a non target to a target, my GPA was a 3.9 and I had decent connects and even then I still had a struggle to get accepted to things in high finance.

Hopefully that makes sense and helps.

Given you got a 2.7 (C+?) in 1st year calc, I doubt you're going to be strong enough to get exclusively CVP/EVR/JPM/GS as you mentioned wanting in your last post. You go to a non target and your academics are sub-par... suggest you re-evaluate and start looking for opportunities in TO

Your grades don't matter - Network, Interview well and get a job, most USA IB won't even look at your resume when deciding to give you an interview it will be directly due to a referral. Coming from a non-target you don't get the luxury of being socially awkward, unprofessional or unpolished so if you can't satisfy those requirements you could have a 4.3/4.3 and it wouldn't help you.

Have you recruited for any firms and have been successful? If so, do you mind if I contact you, I would love to learn about your journey and the different perspective you have.
