Non-target: How many contacts do you need at a bank to best position for interview?
So you're gunnin' for IBD:
At Bank A you know 1 analyst in IBD but 5-6 other people in Ops, or Asset Management.
Or at Bank B you know 0 guys in IBD but 10-15 people in Research and Treasury
Or at Bank C you know 2 VPs in IBD very well but have no other contacts?
Is knowing people outside your preferred division that beneficial to getting an interview?
Is knowing 1 IBD guy like a best friend enough? Say he's an MD.
You should never have a limit, you will continue networking even when you start working. BTW try spinning those back office contacts into front office contacts. Ask if they know anyone on a desk, floor group etc etc
