Non-Target Strategy Advice

Hi everyone! I'm looking for advice on how to move forward. My story has unfortunate facts that set me back. The one positive thing I have going is LGBT status. Learning about the recruitment for this field and caring about grades too late have put me in a less-than-desirable situation.

I go to a very good (not great) public institution & have a 3.6 GPA. I'm confident I'll graduate with a 3.75-3.8 GPA. I've already missed recruiting for summer 2023. That being said, I want to break into IB and PE.

What would be the best internship to get for summer 2023? I want a shot at applying full-time for IB 2024. I have lots of real estate analyst and commercial banking interest.

Long-term, what is my best shot at getting involved? I think I have a shot to get accepted by one ivy or ivy equivalent for an MBA. My GPA and GMAT will be within the standard deviation for these schools. Applying to a bunch, especially with minority status, should yield one acceptance.

Is my best shot getting in through a prestigious MBA program or grinding on a different internship 2023? Does commercial banking or any other internship roles help me break into IB/PE? Can I use diversity recruiting to get in? TIA
