Not sure if i should do this or not!

Hi everyone,

I had a first round telephone interview yesterday which i think went well. the hiring manager said i have the skills and motivation they are looking for. Soon after i sent a thank you note reiterating my interest. he resonded by saying "it was a pleasure speaking to you as well. we will get in touch. all the best in the meantime" i dont know if this is +ve or -ve but dont want to read too much into it.

the thing is i am currently based in another country to where the job will be located and i am worried that the fact that they will have to fly you me in could make them not want to do that given costs although it is a big organisation.

the other thing is i am going to that city on leave anyway in 2 weeks time and it is the time the hiring manager will fly in as well to conduct further interviews. Do you think it is wise to email HR telling them that i will be in the city...something along the lines of "i just wanted to let you know that i will be in xxxxx from xxth to xxth of August; so in case the hiring team would like to schedule further meetings then i will be able to come in for those"

would this be too much! i really dont know and would appreciate opinions.

People (myself included) read far too much into tiny irrelevant details when they are worried about something. You sent a thank you email, he sent a polite reply, there is nothing else going on.

With regards to the travelling, emailing HR letting them know you are in the city on those dates won't hurt. Make sure you phrase it like you did though, "In case you would like to organise further meetings or interviews". I wouldn't worry about them not flying you out due to costs unless it is some tiny family firm in TumbleWeed Town....

This, Ive flight 6000 miles for an interview, so Id be surprise if that is any issue unless as Asatar said its a tiny firm.
