Office Location Competitiveness Advantage?

Hi, I've recently transferred from a semi-target around the NYC area to USC. I am currently applying for 2025 Summer internships for my junior year. What I was wondering was, for firms like GS, are there differences in how hard it is to land interviews / the internship? For example, because I go to USC, it would make sense for me to apply to GS's San Francisco office, but I would much rather spend my summer in NYC where I know people. Is there some competitive advantage in going for the SF office because maybe it's less in demand?
