Old SWE looking for career change to may be law

Much older than likely anyone here with 20 yoe in Silicon Valley tech as SWE. BS/MS in engineering. There are not many Law-oriented forums with STEM-majors, so trying this forum for possible input.

Was interested in humanities/literature all my life, but as software engineer those can even hinder professional career. Considering law/JD as a career.

Took LSAT scored low-170s. I think I can't get into top-3 law schools, but can get into Columbia and below with some effort. Don't want to do MBA as it seems mostly superficial.

Is it worth the debt and 3 years?

Anyone been in similar boat looking for a career reset at an old age?

What other degrees than JD or MBA one can do that can provide career-reset of sorts and intellectual academic environment?

Do you love the law? Columbia is a great law school - but do you actually want to practice law?

I've browsed this forum but it really lacks many STEM major or tech people who made the switch. There is so much pessimism on it regarding someone wanting to go from tech to law that's it's sad.

I thought may be WSO that has more STEM/engineering people in very active/prestige oriented careers possibly including through an mba path, may provide another useful viewpoint of what they think of law degree from prestige schools.

Is columbia law considered anywhere close to harvard law or hbs mba or not?
