Old work experience

So this fall I'm going to a target university in the UK and will apply for spring weeks in London (1-2 weeks internships at investment banks, I'm sure you know that though).

Can I put on my resume a one-day shadowing at a local bank and a banking-related contest where my team finished 7th in Europe? The problem is that at the time when I'll apply, both things will be 1.5 years old (I did both in the beginning of 2012), so not very recent. Sadly, I can't find any proper internships at my age without strong connections in my country, that's all I have.
