Online Assessment Test

Lurker here. Long story short, I applied last night for an off-cycle at a BB in London - just received an invitation to an online assessment. From what I have seen around the forum this will be mostly behavioural, might throw in critical thinking qs as well. Any tips and tricks to cruise around this? This is the first time I have ever been invited for this sort of task.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some tips and tricks to help you navigate the online assessment for an off-cycle position at a Bulge Bracket (BB) bank in London:

  • Understand the Format: Familiarize yourself with the structure of the assessment. It may include behavioral questions and possibly some critical thinking questions. Knowing the format can help you prepare effectively.

  • Behavioral Questions: These are designed to gauge your fit within the company culture and your soft skills. Reflect on your past experiences and be ready to discuss them in a way that highlights your problem-solving abilities, teamwork, leadership, and adaptability.

  • Critical Thinking Questions: If the assessment includes these, practice some common critical thinking exercises. You can find resources on the WSO Academy that can help you sharpen your analytical skills.

  • Practice Makes Perfect: Utilize the WSO Interview Prep Courses to get a feel for the types of questions that may be asked and to practice your responses.

  • Time Management: Often, these assessments are timed. Make sure to keep an eye on the clock and pace yourself so that you can complete all sections.

  • Honesty is Key: Answer honestly and consistently, as behavioral assessments can sometimes detect inconsistencies in your responses.

  • Technical Prep: If you suspect there might be technical questions, brush up on your knowledge related to the role you've applied for. The WSO Financial Modeling Courses could be a great resource for this.

  • Relax and Stay Positive: Confidence can greatly influence your performance. Take deep breaths, stay calm, and approach the assessment with a positive mindset.

Remember, the goal of the assessment is to determine if you're a good fit for the firm and the role. Showcasing your genuine self is just as important as demonstrating your technical and analytical abilities. Good luck!
