Passing along resume - Lateral move

Hey fellas - Currently I am working at a boutique investment banking firm and trying to lateral. I start networking recently. Most people I networked would offer to pass along my resume or circulate my info internally. Based on my past experience, out of 10 people who said that, I would get 1 or 2 interviews. Wonder how I could improve on maintaining and deepening those relationships. Also, if you could shed lights on the most effective ways to navigate lateral process and get interviews, I would appreciate it very much. Thanks!
