So I interviewed with an ib about a year ago didn't get the job. But I got a job in pf instead. A new position opened up at the same ib and I'm going to apply for it again. Would it be a bad idea to contact the person who interviewed me before? Basically asking about the job and trying to get my name on the board.

You should definitely follow up with it. What is the worst answer you will get back, "No". It is worth a shot. Remember if you don't ask for it, the answer is always "No".
