Pay for remote work
Hey guys -
Left banking two years ago for a remote Corp dev role. Long story short was burnt out and hates nyc so I spent the last two years working 9-5 and traveling the world. Absolutely LOVED it and had many incredible experiences that I’m going to tell my grandkids one day.
The work itself actually came with a lot of responsibility and I led many deal efforts. That being said the intensity picked up recently and I started to feel the major pay cut I took. It’s silly but sometimes I feel like I didn’t do my banking stint justice if I’m making so little. Luckily my good work was picked up by a large tech company who has offered me a much better comp structure along with a promotion. I’d be making more than all of my associates in IB. The downside - they have a restriction on remote work abroad.
I wanted to ask 1) is it worth it? Lifestyle matters more to me than resume. But I know my worth and want to be compensated for it as I financially plan for the future 2) is there anyway to get around these restrictions? Are they even tracked?
Any advice is helpful.
