Postponing Buy-side Recruiting?
1st year analyst (class of 2021) at a mid-tier BB M&A group (BofA / Citi / CS / Barc) - I've actually enjoyed the job so far, and am not so adamant about breaking into the buy-side quite yet.
Are there any downsides to postponing PE / HF recruiting to on-cycle next year or off-cycle?
Not really. Only thing is that if you do on-cycle next year, you’ll be held to a higher standard given your extra year of deal experience vs. other candidates. Also no for off-cycle - may be even better that you didn’t try on-cycle as you won’t be seen as damaged goods.
