Private Trader. Advice Needed
Hi everyone this is my first post here even though I've been lurking around the forums for quite some time. I'm currently an independent futures trader and I'm looking to trade professionally. The problem is that I don't have any finance background, came from a non target school and have a 3.0 GPA. I can easily understand how this can be viewed as a shot in the dark but I have a passion for trading and really want to break into the industry. Are there any suggestions out there? Thanks
From this angle, it's all about documenting your track record. I assume you are no longer in school?
Correct. I've been out of school about a year now. I was given money by my father to start a small futures account but had it taken away a few months later after he needed to use it. Now I'm strictly on simulation and fear that firms won't take me seriously. For that matter I don't even know which firms to look at. I hear prop firms require you putting in your own money but I don't know anything about their reputation and exit opportunities from there
You might as well be playing Farmville.
LOL. That I'm that screwed huh?
I'm a Private Racecar Driver.
What does that have to do with anything?(even if it is sarcasm)
Unemployed kid with a small brokerage account : Private Trader :: ER Associate with an Xbox : Private Racecar Driver
What's with the cryptic bs? Just say it how it really is.
And boom goes the dynamite.
If you have detailed records of your trades, past performance, etc, over a long time horizon, maybe it can get you somewhere. I think it's still a difficult position to be in though...
are you working? if so id save up money and either start using real money or get your series 3. and of course network network network
the problem with paper trading accounts is that they have a no risk attachment to them. You could have 10 trading accounts, all playing different plays. One of them will work, and you say that one. You have to do a real money acccount for this to merit anything, im afraid.
Well even though it looks like I'm screwed I appreciate the advice and honesty. Thank you guys
