Putting club positions on LinkedIn?
I’m one of the senior exec of my university’s main and oldest finance society and I’ve noticed that the other exec put their position as experience on LinkedIn, seems weird to me as this isn’t work experience, but I am not sure
Is this normal / expected? Should I list my position? I spend around 5 hours a week doing work for the club
Don’t, so cringey
I personally do it, but under the volunteering section, not professional experience. It shows that you’re involved and interested in finance without looking cringe.
Yeah I’ve put it in the “organizations” section at the bottom as I do have some actual volunteering work in the volunteer section that’s not finance clubs hahaha
Don’t do this
I do this mostly because 1) the “organizations” and “volunteering” sections are at the very bottom and I imagine aren’t always seen; 2) because I spend a significant amount of my time in these roles; and 3) they’re very relevant to the positions I apply for. I’ll admit it hurt a bit to read that everybody else thinks it’s cringey but I’m gonna continue prioritizing the 3 reasons I listed over that. The point of me putting them under “experience” is for hiring managers to actually see my involvement.
You should list on LinkedIn that your WSO handle is financebro1 - the name alone gives you ample street cred
Glad you understood the joke ;)
