Question about following up on jobs
What are your guys' opinions about how to follow up on a job that was applied for on a company's job board? I have emailed, called, and just let applications go and can't seem to decide whats best to do. Calling the company usually seems like it does nothing is the reason I ask.
Any help would be great!
Alex
I think email is good enough. Be brief, to the point, and sincere and nice as so they will remember your name and what you wrote.
thanks np
With all good wishes, likely no chance in hell. Especially in this economy. Network, network, then apply when they ask you to. Otherwise you're usually just resume #57 of 95. Or 950.
Applying on job boards can yield some results but it's a numbers game and heavily dependent on your resume. Networking, especially if you have a strong alumni presence, should be much more effective.
Even small no-name places these days get tons of resumes (read: 30-50+ a day for a couple of days) once they post a job.
