Question about resume

I just started a part time internship with a small asset management firm. I partly did this to prepare myself for the upcoming summer internships and to boost my resume. When should I add this position to my resume? At this point I obviously haven't done a whole lot at this place, but it would probably help me get some interviews if I added this internship to my resume.

I have a hard time getting interviews (at my semi target in LA) which is probably because of my resume. I used to include my community college background, which I took off the resume after talking to several people. It did help, and employers are more interested, but I still have a hard time. My other problem is, that I don't have a lot of extracurricular/club/leadership activity to put on my resume. I hope this internship will help offset this a bit.

Since I didn't really state a clear question: when should I update my resume with my current internship?

Since I just started I can't really say much about what I do there. So should I wait a couple weeks and then update my resume?

Why don't you just update right now and also state the true starting date? It will fill up your resume, and if you have just started this internship then so be it. Your motivation for the internship (preparing for upcoming summer) doesn't sound wrong, so why wait? You will be surprised how many people actually over-exaggerate about their positions/activities in their resumes..

Thanks for your reply. I actually did update it last week and I've gotten some positive feedback already. And I tell companies that I've just started the internship and see it as preparation for this summer, just as you said.

Pretty much, I didn't list that much, just what my tasks are/will be Had an interview last week and they asked me about that job, and I told them that I've just started and they were ok with it.

I had the same situation and just asked my supervisor for his thoughts on what I would be able to do and explained that I was about to go into the interview process and such so I needed the information. Also just look at your intern job description since that is most likely what you will be doing.
