Ranting

I (probably) missed the train to "good fortune" land. LOL

The perfect opportunity to join a start-up just slipped my hand because of a stupid email mistake. Start-up sent me interview request to the wrong email and it is just today that I found out about that. I called them and asked if they are still looking for people but I was told all spots are filled but they will call me if they need me. It is annoying because the person who tried to set up the interview had my resume and my email in it.

Damn it!!!! I did not have to relocate because they run a virtual office. Being able to work home means heaven to me but oh crap , tough shit.

To explain my frustration: the start-up is owned by former Facebook/Google pioneers(the ones who became billionaires/minds) so it could eventually succeed.

I was excited about 4 things:

1- Telecommute work 2- Watch the company grow over the next 5/3 years would have been WorkOrgasmic 3- Getting paid to do something that I love

tough luck, tough shit, time to move on

njmonkey46Good luck flakiebear.

I hope that they will call back sometimes this summer if they are looking to expand their team.

Banker88So is it their fault or yours? What do you mean by wrong email?

It's my fault.

I sent the first application with my old work email. I included my personal email +phone number in the body of my cover letter/email.

I sent the rest of the application with my personal email and asked to be contacted via it.

I stopped working at the other place because my contract was over. When the start-up emailed me, they responded to that work email.

I got hired to a new position by my former company two months later. I was reassigned the same old email address and my old stuffs were still in outlook. When I opened outlook on my first day,

Bang! The start-up's message popped up.

And I thought that my application was rejected because I did not hear from them.

I mainly used my professional email when I submitted the first part because it could prevent my application from going into their spam box and my .org email kind of gave validity to my application.

asiamoneySucks man, sorry to hear it. I'm guessing you have 2 email accounts, and they contacted you with the one you don't primarily use?

I'd definitely keep staying in touch with the people there and hopefully something will open up down the road...

Yes I will stay in touch with them.

They were very gracious on the phone.

happypantsmcgeeHave one forward to the other...?

that's what I am about to do.

I thought that they would contact me by my personal email because the application had two parts:

1st part was sent through professional email 2 part through personal because it was at home

and in both part I explicitly wrote that I can be reach at :[email protected] or XXX number.

But I guess they just hit "reply" to my first email (work) to contact me.

Sucks though

NewGuyLol at you applying for jobs with your current work email

nothing wrong with that.

I was a paid intern and it was my boss encouraged me to look at other companies and get more experience.
