Should have worked harder in high school & college. If I had to guess -- ~0%. That being said, you got a job, do it properly.

Lol, are you prestigious pete's evil double?

Anyways, don't listen to the troll obviously... I'm really not an expert on RE but I would imagine if you're at a BB it's relatively easy to move to Corporate banking in the first 3 years?

WTF are you talking about? Whose Pete?

Anyhoos, apparently this kid isn't fond of facts. That won't get you very far on the street. For sure a banking position would prefer people that have prior banking experience either from another BB or a MM bank.

RE won't cut it. Don't rely on your competition being dud interviewers either. It only works as an undergrad. Why doesn't this guy just look to RE HFs?

P.S. Stating facts isn't trolling, leading someone on is. There are plenty of failures & people try to get certain jobs that they have no chance for constantly. I'm just trying to prevent this dude from wasting his time.

OK I feel like I'm feeding a troll here, but for the odd chance a kid reads this one day and actually believes the utter nonsense you write, I have to correct you.

Do you know what business banking is? AKA corporate banking? It's not the OMG-M&A-FO-THE-PATH-BUYSIDE you jerk-off daily to (or maybe you jerk-off to people getting trolled by your alter-ego on WSO?); it's the business of financing corporations, giving them lines of credits etc...

The OP being well-aware of that it makes sense that he believes the transition from RE to business banking is doable, and that is my opinion as well...

Are we counting RBS as a BB? HSBC is a BB in london and even in the US. It's a money center but shitty IB group. Two data points.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulge_bracket#Banks_currently_part_of_the_…

I would say RBS was pretty big at one point but now they ONLY have corporate banking so that's that... But anyways, to the original point, I'm pretty sure what you do in RE is closer to business banking than IBD, and it should be a reasonable transition. Also, even if he was a cashier dreaming of breaking into blackstone, telling him he has 0 chance and should have worked harder in high school is rude and completely useless. It's also completely uneducated as what I infer from your posts is that you aren't even in the industry yet...being humble is a good quality regardless of where you are in life, but if you're talking internship interviews on a forum it's pretty laughable to look down at someone who landed a FT gig at a BB.......
