Reaching out to Recruiters for an internship

Hey everyone,

So I decided I was going to reach out to recruiters on Linkedin. I wanted to speak to them over the phone and ask about what they are looking for in the candidates. Do you guys think this is appropriate or is their something else I should ask?

you can try. Typically cold calling is inefficient so be prepared for a lot of no responses. From the recruiters I've talked to they don't usually mind (schedule permitting ofc) talking to potential candidates. I'd also recommend being less direct and more approachable(?) (don't have a better word for it). Just approach it like you're asking them a big favour more so than directly asking for a job. My biggest suggestion is find someone you know who knows them, that way they'd be more open to talking to you.

I'd really say your best shot is try and figure out your initial network of family friends, and friends' parents to help get you an internship. Then, cold e-mailing (high volume) analysts and associates rather than MDs and SVPs (unless you have some sort of connection i.e. hometown, school, etc.) to try and get your resume in front of them.
