Recruiting Landscape for Spring Wks & SAs?

I'm a 2nd year UK undergrad at a target looking at applying to springs and summers in the upcoming year (I'm seriously considering doing a Masters). I'm not a finance background and only have a handful of work experience (nothing amazing/stellar to make me stand out or anything tbh), so I don't want to compete in a smaller pool for summer analyst positions against all the heavy LSE or other target Econ or Finance ppl.

I'm hearing about a lot of job cuts in IB with the tight market situation at the moment, so would it be wiser to just concentrate on springs this year?
