Relocate to NYC for summer - find internship once up there?
Let's say you're still looking for internships and you can get a decent bargain on a place for the summer within 30-45 minutes of manhattan.
Would moving up there for the summer be worth it? Of course, employers will take applicants/cold-callers more seriously if they're within the area. But let's say you're there in June - how many boutiques and small shops would still be looking?
Hope this idea doesn't sound too silly...

You should get up there asap if you plan to try to get something. Anywhere in jersey that is close to a train (PATH, njtransit) should be fine.
