Relocation from NYC to London
Hello friends,
My company is about to discuss with me about relocation from NYC to London for a couple years. I will become the UK subsidiary employee after that. As my firm is a small hedge fund, I doubt the HR has a standard relocation package. So before I sit down with my manager, I am eager to know what would a US to UK relocation package look like. I am 31 and single. I would greatly appreciate any insights or advice.
My biggest concerns so far are: 1) income taxes in the UK are so much higher, even compared to NYC, so I am thinking I should ask for some salary adjustment, 2) Is there a way to keep getting social security points even though I may contribute to the UK system? The parent company is still US based, so I'm not sure if that counts
Lastly, from a tax standpoint, is there a best month to move from the US to UK or it's irrelevant when? I know the UK tax year starts from April each year.
Thank you!
