Research Sales at a Boutique Shop
I had a long career as a Sales Trader on the NYSE - very successful until the obvious last couple of years. The NYSE is a graveyard with no franchise anymore - and I'm too young to be a corpse.
I still have a lot of contacts - [I think]. Don't know what that will get me in today's trading environment with bad news everywhere and volume in the crapper.
But I was offered a position at a Boutique Shop in Research Sales - and from a friend at a HF - the research is well thought of. They seem to be doing pretty well considering the trading volume doldrums. And they have a good product behind them.
I will be an assistant at first - which I can live with.
We did not discuss actual compensation packages or numbers - I thought I would mull it over first.
I was told in the beginning I wouldn;t be pulling in much at all - but then it would be up to me.
I have the personality for this - and I succeed before - but I want to have long term prospects.
Does anyone have any insight to if this an opportunity I can't pass up? My question is what, in general, is my upside?
