SA as a D1 Athlete
Does anyone have any suggestions for how to work out and stay in shape as a D1 athlete during SA stint? For context, I'll be at a non-NYC MM in a sweaty group and curious to know how others have managed to stay in shape during the summer. I know it'll be hard but any advice is appreciated
I'm in the same boat and wondering.
How much time do you need to work out? Getting an hour lift or run during dinner or in the AM is acceptable in most groups, should be able to make it work 4-5 days a week, just need to be flexible and skip it if you're grinding on a deadline. Sat/Sun are either 1 or 2 workdays in most groups, although I would say interns have a bit less weekend work than FTs, so you should be able to do just about any length workout both weekend days. If your group has a gym in the building this helps cut down how long you're away for
10 weeks (9 really, training week is 9-5) isn't so long that you'll lose all of your fitness, just do the best you can even if you have to cut down your training plan.
same boat and curious. focusing on getting an apartment with a gym.
I did it for a winter/spring sport. You need to do the training in the AM, no matter how tired you are. Try to load the worst workouts for weekends.
If you’re lucky and have a easy group, remote work policy, take advantage of free time, assuming you are not a bad intern.
Overall, prioritize the internship because it’s your future.
